I’ve been relaunching this site for about a decade now.

If you dug into the Wayback Machine, you’d find the following progression: a WordPress blog, then “Lalee Consulting” on Camaleon CMS, then an Odoo installation that I absolutely should not have run as a public website, then a placeholder holding page that I kept updating the relaunch date on (“Relaunching July 2018. Probably.”), and eventually a nearly-empty Hugo site.

This is that Hugo site. It’s still mostly empty. But this time I’m writing the reboot post, which is further than I’ve gotten before.

What this site actually is
#

rubyjedi.com is my personal site — the one that doesn’t have a business card on it. It’s where I write about things I find interesting, document projects I’m working on, and occasionally share hard-won technical notes so I (or someone else) can find them later.

The sibling sites handle the other angles:

  • lalee.net — professional services, consulting work, the more formal version of me
  • not404.com — hobby projects and experiments, the stuff that’s purely for fun

rubyjedi.com lives in between: more personal than lalee.net, more technical than a LinkedIn page.

What’s coming
#

I’m going to populate the Projects section with writeups on the open-source work I’ve shipped over the years, starting with the two things on the About page that deserve more context than a table row.

The Journal is where everything else lives: technical notes, infrastructure war stories, the occasional lifestyle tangent. The old blog categories — Hacks, Software, Hardware, Lifestyle, Hawaii, Geeking — are a good map of the territory. Expect all of those.

This time I’m not setting a relaunch date.
